The Light That Survived

The Light That Survived

This piece holds a quiet truth: not all light is given — some is fought for.

Formed from the raw shell of cacao, marked by time, pressure, and resistance, it carries within a living glow — hidden, yet unwavering. What appears closed and hardened from the outside reveals, upon closer presence, a line of light that refuses to disappear.

Cowrie shells trace a protective path along the surface, forming a natural armour — a memory of the body, instinct, and continuity. Their rhythm speaks of protection, but also of transition — of something that is not sealed, but in the process of becoming.

This work exists between states: between concealment and revelation, between weight and emergence. It does not offer resolution. Instead, it holds a moment — the precise point where something breaks, and rather than ending, begins to shine.

A threshold.
Not a barrier.

A reminder that even within the hardest structures, something alive persists — carrying light forward.
