New Europeans is an association which promotes our rights as EU citizens, including the right to freedom of movement and the right to vote in local and European elections wherever we live in the EU. There are a growing number of citizens who were born in one European state but live and work in another. At New Europeans, we believe that that is a very good thing. Freedom of movement is a core part of the European project. The association promotes values of European citizenship in the UK, with a particular focus on the promotion of the rights of European Union citizens to live, work and study in another EU member state and to participate fully in the social and political life of the member state where they live.
The innovation of the project consists in the fact that it is solely led by citizens; membership comprises people exercising the European citizenship. The organisation was thus designed to promote their voice in discussions about the future of Europe. Last but not least: the initiative comes from the United Kingdom, in a time when there is strong euro scepticism in the country.
