“From Canvas to Glass: One Artist’s Big Transformation”

Every artist begins somewhere, but the best ones keep growing, trying new materials and ways of seeing. This collection shows the journey of an artist who started with oil paint and ended up playing with stained glass, shells and wood – like a single, glowing thread of curiosity that ties it all together.

It began with oil paintings, rich and heavy with colour. There were moody studies like the moon between light and shadow, intimate figures like the woman combing her wet hair, and dramatic copies after Turner’s sunlit harbours or Vermeer’s pearl‑eared girl. Each one was a careful lesson in brushwork, light and feeling – the kind of work that builds skill and confidence.

Then came still lifes and figures: a jug with apples glowing against red cloth, people huddling under a rainy arch. These were quieter, more personal, showing how the artist could balance calm objects and emotional scenes with the same bold palette.

The real shift happened when stained glass entered the picture. Suddenly, the heavy oils became bright, flat jewels of colour: a strutting rooster, a hummingbird, a lotus flower, even abstract hearts and diamonds that catch the sun. The thick lead lines and sharp edges were the opposite of soft paint strokes, but the love for warm yellows, deep blues and playful shapes stayed the same. These pieces feel lighter, more joyful, like the artist had learned to let go and celebrate pure colour.

Along the way, found objects appeared: oyster shells turned into tiny angels with painted faces and sea stones for hearts, each one a handmade wish for love and protection. They brought nature into the mix, soft and organic against the hard glass edges.
This is the big transformation – from thick, thoughtful paint to bright, wearable glass and gentle seaside crafts. Each step was a new challenge: learning to cut glass without slicing fingers, finding the right shell on the beach, painting tiny faces that sing. But through it all, there’s one constant: a bold sense of colour, a love for storytelling, and a wish to make things that feel alive. What started as quiet studies on canvas has become a sparkling, varied world of art that invites everyone to look closer, smile and maybe take a piece home.
