Seven Angels

Seven Angels

This abstract painting suggests seven vertical streams of light in different colours – like seven angels standing side by side, each carrying its own energy, emotion and blessing. Soft, blended strokes make the colours feel like they are moving, as if the angels are descending gently from above and wrapping the viewer in protection and calm.

When I started this painting, I didn’t think of angels at all.
It began as seven simple bands of colour, pulled down the canvas like curtains of light. But as the layers grew softer and more transparent, it started to feel less like paint and more like presence – as if something gentle was stepping through.
In my mind, each glowing line became one of seven angels.
The warm red and gold carried courage, the deep blue held quiet protection, the greens breathed healing and new beginnings, and the pale whites and turquoises whispered peace. None of them has a face or wings; they are just movement and colour, the way comfort sometimes arrives without words.
This is why the strokes blur and fade into one another: our guides don’t stand apart, they work together, weaving around us like a veil. When you look at the painting from a distance, it feels like a soft waterfall of light; up close, you can see small scars and scratches in the paint, like the marks of days that were hard but survived.
“Seven Angels” is a picture of those unseen helpers we sense in our lives – in a kind word, a sudden calm, a lucky escape. It is meant to hang quietly on the wall and remind you that even when everything looks chaotic, there is a hidden order, a team of lights standing just behind the curtain, holding you up.
